Bath and North East Somerset has borders with Bristol and South Gloucestershire council areas. The county of Bath and North East Somerset is relatively small with a population of just 178,300. The majority of around half of the total population of the county live within Bath itself. The rest of the population of the county enjoy countryside living with the county stretching into both the Mendip Hills to the south and the Cotswold Hills to the east. There are many smaller towns and villages within the county of Bath and North East Somerset these include Saltford and Keynsham, which are fairly equidistant between the cities of Bath and Bristol. There are also areas like Radstock and Paulton, which are further into the countryside.

This university is much smaller than the other university in the city, with just over half of the amount of students. There is a slightly higher split of postgraduate to undergraduate students of around 35:65 respectively.

There are several transport links with the county of Bath and North East Somerset these include good road links to Bristol and the surrounding area, which lead to good motorway links. There is also the Bath Spa railway station and the Kennet and Avon canal.
