Milton Keynes is a town in the south east of England. The town is located in the county of Buckinghamshire. Milton Keynes is a fairly new town, which is located approximately 60 miles north west of London. The town has a population of almost 185,000 residents. Milton Keynes was officially given status as a town in 1967. This town included a large area of farmland, several small villages and also the existing towns of Wolverton, Bletchley and Stony Stratford. The town of Milton Keynes was named after a small village that was located to the east of where the town now stands.

When the town was first designed it was said that no building within Milton Keynes should be taller than the largest tree. However, during the recent expansion programme for the town this guidance was lifted, as members believed that the area needed some landmark buildings, these would mainly be located in the centre of Milton Keynes but there would also be others outside of the centre. This led to the development of buildings like the Hub: MK that stands at 14 storeys high and was built in 2008. Other large-scale buildings include The Pinnacle, which is located along Midsummer Boulevard; this is an office block and is the largest of its kind in the area. There are plans for further development of high-rise buildings in the area.

There are many sporting teams within Milton Keynes; these are in a wide range of sporting events. These include the MK Dons football team, they currently play at the new stadium: MK, which holds around 22,000 people. There is an ice hockey team Milton Keynes Lightening, the Milton Keynes Lions basketball team. The Red Bull formula one racing team are also based in the area.

Milton Keynes benefitted from all types of transport from early on due to the fact the town has been constructed fairly recently. The Grand Union Canal that connects Birmingham and London flows through Milton Keynes and so was an important factor during the development of the town.

The Milton Keynes Central Railway Station was developed, which lessened the use of other local stations like Bletchley and Wolverton. The Milton Keynes Railway Station is located along the West Coast Main Line.

Milton Keynes is well served by road links, it is located in close proximity to the M1, which runs along the east side of the town as well as many A roads.
