Conveyancing

Find more information on moving home on our New Homes page.

When buying a home there is are a lot of legal documents that need to be dealt with in order to transfer the deeds of the property being purchased to the purchaser. Generally in England and Wales you will need to appoint either a solicitor of licensed conveyancer to take care of this work, although the work can be undertaken by an unqualified conveyancer as long as they are supervised. It is possible that someone may do their own conveyancing.

The conveyancing process generally takes up to around 3 months but these transactions may be longer and possibly shorter dependant on the particular situations of those both purchasing and selling the property.

The conveyancer will collate all required information including any details of searches that may be required dependant on where the property is positioned.

There are many conveyancing firms around, there may be certain cenveyancers that are suggested to you by the seller of your current property. All of the companies may offer different rates for their services but you must check what is included in this before making your final decision, you will not know the final price until the conveyancing has been completed as there may be unforseen charges included when purchasing the property.
