Kings Meadow Court is a delightful development of one and two bedroom retirement homes in the town of Lydney in Gloucestershire. The retirement apartments are set in a tranquil location off Hill Street away from the bustle of the town centre, yet not far from Lydney s selection of shops and amenities including two supermarkets, a post office, chemist, bank and hairdressers. A number of the retirement flats overlook the beautiful Bathurst Park, and all residents can benefit from the sheltered garden and patio area outside the residents' lounge.
Lydney is surrounded by the Royal Forest of Dean and stands on the north bank of the River Severn. The town is conveniently located on the A48 between Gloucester and Chepstow and is not far from Coleford, Cinderford, Whitecroft, Blakeney and Caldicot. Lydney also has excellent connections to the M48 and M4 motorways offering easy access to Bristol, Cardiff and South Wales.
The Dean Forest Railway runs to one side of Kings Meadow Court offering a regular service on restored steam trains to and from Lydney Junction and Parkend stations. Lydney Town station is located approximately 150 yards from Kings Meadow Court offering easy access to this wonderful attraction.
The Royal Forest of Dean covers over 110 square kilometres and sits between the River Wye and Severn, offering plenty of walks and outdoor activities as well as picturesque scenery. Lydney Harbour was once famous for shipping iron and coal from the forest, and remains a rare example of an unspoilt 19th century harbour. In recent years a project to restore and enhance this historic landmark has taken place, making it a wonderful place to enjoy. The nearby village of St. Briavels is an officially designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is sheltered behind the walls of its 12th century Norman castle.
