Road links around Bristol are extensive with fast routes to the M5 to the south west and Birmingham and the M4 to London. There are two main rail networks with Bristol Parkway and Temple Meads stations connecting Bristol to the rest of the country. Bristol has its own airport with departures to most European destinations. Just outside Bristol centre is the Avonmouth Docks, where the main traffic moves through the Severn Estuary out to sea. There is a vast array of historical venues, museums and in 2008 was voted the European Capital of Culture. There is the Famous Old and New Vic theatres, the Hippodrome and many smaller venues for live music, arts and comedy. For those who appreciate art there are galleries galore to while away hours. You’ll not want for shopping in Bristol with markets, the Shopping Quarter, Cabot Circus, Clifton Village and on the outskirts the Cribbs Causeway shopping mall. Restaurants, cafes, bars and nightlife are too numerous to mention. So much to see and do.
