Amenities

There are plenty of local shops around the area for your day to day needs, along with Asda, Morrisons and Sainsburys supermarkets close by for your weekly shop.
For doctors, register with Christchurch Family medical Centre on North Street in Downend (Sat Nav BS16 5SG, call 0845 463 3716) and for dentists try Frenchay Dental Practice on Beckspool Road (sat Nav BS16 1NU, call 0845 463 3716).

Dining

You’ll discover a good selection of local restaurants around Frenchay, so you don’t have to head into town to find your feast. The Snuff Mill Harvester is a favourite with families, and you can also find top quality dining in Frenchay at the White Lion, the Raj Mahal, Tumeric, La Piazza Everyday Thai and the Wok Inn.
Nearby Downend has an equally tempting selection, including Mezze @ the Green Dragon, Tikka Raaz, the Horseshoe, Tamarind and Jorna - and should you tire of all this choice, you’ll still have the countless eateries of Bristol to try and taste.

Education

It is hoped that the new development will eventually boast its own, purpose built primary school for the younger children from up to 450 new homes. Until then, you can choose from a selection of OFSTED ‘good’ rated primary schools in the local area, including Frenchay CofE Primary, Begbrook Primary, Frome Valley Primary Academy and Bromley Heath Infants and Juniors.
Older children can also choose from several ‘good’ rated schools, including Fairfield High, Abbeywood Community School and Downend School. Bristol also has excellent provision for independent education, with Gracefield Prep close to the development, Colston’s School, within easy reach, taking children aged 3-18 and QEH and Badminton School in the city catering for older boys and girls respectively.

Leisure

Frenchay has a thriving local community, based around the Village Hall, with a wide range of clubs, societies and events to get involved in. You’ll also enjoy the delightful riverside walks through the woods of the Frome Valley. Frenchay Cricket Club has its own place in history, as its captain was once none other than the legendary W.G. Grace. Golfers are also well catered for locally, with both Filton and Hambrook golf courses within easy reach.
Further afield, Bristol has much to offer in the way of leisure and pleasure, with multi screen cinemas, ten pin bowling, a selection of theatres and music venues, such as the Bristol Hippodrome, two football clubs and top class rugby union all within easy reach, along with a range of fascinating and fun tourist attractions around the quayside.

Shopping

Frenchay has a strong sense of local community, with lots of local shops and stores to serve your every need. Further afield, you’ll find Bristol is made for retail therapy, with a mix of modern town centre shopping malls, out of town shopping centres and a fascinating selection of unusual independent shops around the historic harbour.
Check out Cribbs Causeway, with over 130 stores to choose from along with your favourite chain restaurants and leisure facilties, head for the city for the 120 stores of Cabot Circus and an extensive pedestrianised shopping area, or stay closer to home with Abbey Wood Retail Park, just across the motorway in Filton.
