The A38 at Liskeard has links to Looe being within 16 minutes drive away. The A38, A39, A390 and A30 are the main roads that link most of the towns and villages through Cornwall. The A38 leading eastward through to Plymouth and into Devon. Looe has its own railway station serving both the East and West Looe twin towns, on the Looe Valley Line. Great Western Railways runs trains through to Liskeard regularly on a daily basis. From Liskeard the trains then run through to Penzance, Plymouth or London Paddington. There are good bus services around Looe and the surrounding areas with Plymouth Citybus having routes from Plymouth to Polperro via Saltash, St Germans and Looe and another route from Liskeard to Pelynt via St Keyne, Duloe and Looe. East Looe has the main shopping centre and harbour whilst West Looe is much quieter, still with shops, hotels and restaurants. Both sides joined by the seven arched bridge. The harbour quay is worth a visit to watch the local fishing boats unloading their catch of the day, which can be found on many local restaurants menus. There are many restaurants, bars, cafes, takeaways and pasty shops all around Looe as the town caters to many tourists.

During the summer months the Woolly Monkey Sanctuary is definitely worth a visit. This sanctuary is home to a number of rescued capuchin monkeys and Barbary macaques. During the season there are plenty of boating and fishing trips setting out from the harbour, including shark fishing, although the fish aren’t killed just tagged. East Looe has a beach next to the Banjo Pier whilst West Looe has Hannafore Beach from which you can see across to Looe Island.

The Old Guildhall in East Looe is one town’s oldest buildings, dating back to around 1500, formerly the town hall but now the museum. It displays Looe’s history, fishing, boat building and smuggling. There are many exhibits and toys, porcelain, regalia, model boats and more to interest the whole family. Looe has it’s own Cinema by the Sea, a community cinema showing world class films along with theatre events and opera all in high definition with surround sound. Every September there is the Looe Music Festival bringing thousands to the town to enjoy live music and top name performers in temporary venues around the town, harbour and East Looe beach.
