Living in Crookston
Quality of life is about the details of everyday living. From the little things, like knowing the nearest place to pick up a pint of milk, to more important matters like finding the right school or having a health centre nearby, you need to know that the community you’re moving to will support you and your family, as well as be a pleasant place to live. So here’s some useful information about the area around The Larches.

Outdoor Activities
Many of Glasgow’s most popular open green spaces are located in the area around The Larches. The delightful Ross Hall Park, where you can join the White Cart Walkway and enjoy long riverside walks, and Crookston Wood, with its picturesque castle, are both a few minutes’ walk from the development. And just two miles to the east, the celebrated open spaces of Bellahouston Park and the vast Pollok Country Park present an enormous variety of gardens, woodlands, and meadows alongside wildlife habitats.

Shopping
There is good local shopping in the area around The Larches, including a post office, convenience stores, supermarkets and mini-markets. A major Tesco supermarket can also be found at the Silverburn Shopping Centre, around a mile away. Both the centre of Paisley and the vast Braehead Shopping Centre, with over one hundred retailers and a separate retail park, are within three miles of the development.

Sport & Leisure
There are excellent sports and leisure facilities nearby in Bellahouston Park, including a swimmingpool, a separate leisure pool, a well-equipped gym, sauna and steam room, a sports hall and soft-play and baby-play facilities. All-weather outdoor facilities are available in the Park, including a hockey pitch and running track. The Park is also the location of the Glasgow Ski and Snowboard Centre, with its superb floodlit dry slope. Around two miles to the west of The Larches, the Lagoon Leisure Centre in Paisley offers a leisure pool, a comprehensive and well-equipped fitness suite, a dance studio and a six-court sports hall. In addition, there are four fine golf courses, all within easy reach.

Transport
The Larches is in easy reach of the city centre by car or bus, or by Glasgow’s superb local rail network from Crookston station, just a short distance from the development. The location also offers fast access, by the M77 and A77, to the seaside towns and villages of the south-west coast, and, by the M8, to the whole of the central belt region.

Art & Entertainment
Glasgow offers an enormous variety of museums, galleries, cinemas, theatres and live music venues ranging from major touring shows at the SECC, the Clyde Auditorium and the iconic Hydro to a vast choice of city centre clubs and bars. Attractions close to The Larches include the renowned Burrell Collection, an awe-inspiring art collection housed in a superb purpose built gallery in Pollok Country Park and, in the spectacular setting of Bellahouston Park, Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s unique House for an Art Lover, a magnificent example of seamlessly integrated architecture and interior design.

Education & Health
There are excellent educational facilities serving The Larches, including a choice of nursery and primary schools within a ten minute walk. Details of the local schools can be obtained from our Sales Adviser on site. The Crookston Medical Centre, housed in a new building a few minutes’ walk from the development, offers a choice of five GPs as well as nursing and support staff, and there is a pharmacy adjacent to the surgery. There is also a second convenient medical practice in Braidcraft Road, and a choice of dentists nearby.
