Rembrandt House on Whippendell Road in Watford has stood largely empty for the best part of two decades, and its beautiful Edwardian façade has been allowed to fall into disrepair. The site itself is around 3.4 acres and was originally home to the Watford Speedometer & Magneto Works, which provided parts to companies like Vickers and Rolls Royce. It then became a renowned printworks producing magazines, catalogues and posters, until consolidation in the late 1980s left it empty.

Henley’s proposals will transform the high-ceilinged and light-flooded interior into 43 apartments, some with mezzanine levels, while retaining and restoring the beautiful exterior. Ample parking and good transport links will allow easy connection to work and leisure opportunities.
