Trip Advisor lists 19 restaurants in Aylesford, with a total of 233 in the Maidstone area as a whole. Top rated local eateries include The Village Pantry, Base Camp, Kits Coty Brasserie, Sherlocks and The Hengist, with the Beefeater at Allington Lock also popular with families.

In Maidstone, Frederic Café Bistro, Mu Mu Restaurant, Gem of Kent and the Mediterranean flavours of La Taberna all come highly recommended, along with The Town House, The Romney Restaurant and Bills.

Education

Nearby Maidstone has an excellent choice of senior schools, with Valley Park School, Maidstone Grammar, Maidstone Grammar School for Girls and Oakwood Park Grammar all rated ‘outstanding’.

Leisure

The more active residents will be spoiled for choice at The Lawns, with Larkfield Leisure Centre in nearby Aylesford and Maidstone Leisure Centre at Mote Park, plus a choice of excellent golf courses such as Cobtree Manor, all within a short drive of home.

For evening entertainment, head into Maidstone, where you’ll find Lock Meadow Entertainment Centre, which has with everything from a multi-screen cinema to ten-pin bowling and even a trampoline park. Maidstone is also home to the Hazlitt Theatre, the River Stage and the Exchange Studio.

Leeds Castle, just beyond Maidstone, has lots to offer all year round, with a varied programme of special events from Christmas markets to medieval jousting contests.

Shopping

Aylesford Retail Park is close to the development, with a range of big name stores, while nearby Maidstone has 1 million sq ft of retail space offering something for everyone, including Fremlin Walk Shopping Centre, The Mall, Maidstone and the Broadway Shopping Centre.

Check out Maidstone Market every Tuesday and Saturday for fresh produce and homewares, or if you fancy a big name brand at a small ticket price, head for Ashford Designer Outlet. The famous Bluewater Shopping Centre is also less than 20 miles drive, offering retail therapy on a truly epic scale.

Transport

The Lawns lies just a couple of minutes drive from Junction 5 of the M20, with the main trunk route, the A20 passing by the development. London is around 35 miles, with Ashford 22 miles, Canterbury 30 miles, Tunbridge Wells 17 miles and the continental ferries of Dover around 45 miles.

Direct trains from Barming Station connect to London Victoria in around an hour, with connections to St Pancras, via Strood, available from Aylesford Station in around 55 minutes. If you are heading further afield, Gatwick is less than 40 miles, London City Airport is even closer at around 30 miles and Eurostar services to Brussels and Paris can be found at Ashford International, just 22 miles away.
