About the Development

Close to the historic village of West Malling, and within easy reach of the many facilities of Maidstone, Ryarsh Park enjoys an enviable position, surrounded by open Kent countryside. Dining

When it comes to dining choice, West and East Malling are the places to head for, with the High Street and Swan Street both lined with gastro pubs and restaurants, over ten of which have earned a Certificate of Excellence from Trip Advisor.

Check out traditional food at the The Swan, The Farm House, The Bull Inn, or the Tex-Mex of the Scared Crow, the Chinese of Imperial Dynasty, the Indian of Bombay Cuisine or Gandhi Tandoori, or the exotic flavours of Pad Thai. Franks Restaurant and Mussel bar is well worth a visit as it claims to have 20 different ways to cook mussels! Further afield you could head to The King and Queen, East Malling and the Nevill Bull in Birling. Positioned just a short walk away from Ryarsh Park is the very popular 16th Century Duke of Wellington. This traditional public house has a fine reputation for serving great homemade food with a great selection of beers and wines.

For older pupils, the small but proud Malling School specialises in sports and sciences and rates ‘good’ across the board, while further afield Maidstone has an excellent selection of schools, including Maidstone Grammar, Maidstone Grammar School for Girls and Oakwood Park Grammar School.

Golfers will be spoiled for choice, with West Malling Golf Course right on their doorstep and several other challenging courses close by. For other sports, try Larkfield Leisure Centre in Aylesford or Maidstone Leisure Centre. West Malling is also home to an historic cricket ground.

For evening entertainment, West Malling has more than a dozen friendly pubs and restaurants, while nearby Maidstone has a multi-screen Odeon cinema and provides an entertaining selection of shows at the Hazlitt Arts Centre.

For a great day out visit Leeds Castle, just south of Maidstone, where you’ll always find something going on. One ticket gives you entry for a full year, so you can pop down with the kids anytime. Traditional seaside fun can be found close by along the North Kent Coast, in places such as Whitstable and Herne Bay, while the wide open spaces of the North Downs attracts walkers of all ages and abilities.

Shopping

For a small village, West Malling has much to offer for shoppers, including the quirky Abbey Arcade, and the fresh local produce of the farmers market held on the 4th Sunday of every month. A large Morrisons store can also be found in nearby Larkfield. Head along the A20 and you’ll find Aylesford Retail Park, or continue on into Maidstone for an even wider selection of shops, including The Mall and Fremlin Walk shopping centres.

For a real shopping treat, jump a train into the capital for the flagship stores of Oxford Street, or head to the legendary Blue Water Shopping Centre for shopping on a vast scale. Ashford Outlet Village is also a popular destination with bargain hunters.
