Merseyside is a metropolitan county that lies in the North West of England and includes Knowsley, St Helens, Sefton, Liverpool and Wirral. It was created in 1974 and covers an area of about 249 square miles. The Mersey Estuary divides the county into an East and West side, with the latter containing the Wirral Peninsula and the rest of the county in the former. Merseyside is bordered by Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Cheshire and the two parts of the county are connected by the Mersey Tunnels, the Mersey Railway and the Mersey Ferry. The economy is largely centred on the services industry and also concentrates on manufacture. The agriculture sector is relatively minor but still contributes about 50 million pounds to the country's economy annually. Places of interest in the county include Albert Dock, Goodison Park, the Crosby Beach, Liverpool Cathedral and The Dream. Find your new home in Merseyside today.
