Education

We understand how important education is when it comes to choosing a family home, so we always aim to build our homes where you can build your children’s future. Castle Donington offers a choice of three primary schools, with both St Edwards CofE Primary and Hemington Primary (just outside of town) rated ‘good’ by Ofsted and Orchard Community Primary improving rapidly to join them.
For older pupils, the co-ed Castle Donington College is highly regarded, and received a rating of ‘good with outstanding behaviour’ at its last assessment.

Leisure

Castle Donington shows its strong community spirit, with a range of local sports teams plus an annual May Bank Holiday Medieval Market that draws huge crowds. Locally you’ll find a choice of golf courses at Trent Lock and Breedon Priory, plus a selection of gyms and health clubs.
For evening entertainment, the town has many friendly pubs and restaurants, while nearby Derby offers cinemas, theatres and much more.
There’s lots to choose from for a family day out too, from the thrills and spills of Donington Park race track and motor racing museum, to the quiet of the gardens and architecture of Chalke Abbey and Melbourne Hall. For a special treat, the famous rides of Alton Towers are just 35miles away, while younger parents and older kids will love Donington’s Download Festival, which blasts out the very best of rock music.

Shopping

Castle Donington Medieval Market is not to be missed each spring, with dozens of fascinating stalls rolling back the years, and the monthly farmers market shares many of its long lost traditions like buying locally, direct from the producers. You’ll find it every second Saturday at the Community Hub.
Castle Donington has a good range of local and national shops along Market Street and Bondgate, with something for everyone to browse and buy. For a more modern shopping experience, head for the massive Intu Derby mall, which has hundreds of big names brands, along with family chain restaurants and a cinema, making for a full day out. Alternatively, head for Loughborough and enjoy the award winning ‘outdoor market of the year’ every Thursday and Saturday, a collectors’ market every Friday and a choice of modern shopping centres and retail parks.

Transport

Castle Donington is perfectly placed for commuting across the East Midlands, with Derby and Loughborough both just 10miles, Nottingham around 15miles and Leicester around 20miles. The A50 trunk road, the A6 and the M1 are all within easy reach, opening up the region.
For rail travel, East Midlands Parkway, just fifteen minutes drive away, offers regular services to Nottingham in 12minutes, Derby and Leicester in 15minutes, and direct to London St Pancras in just an hour and twenty two minutes. The station has 850 parking spaces to serve commuters from across the area.
When it comes to flying, East Midlands Airport couldn’t be more convenient, just a short taxi ride away, taking away much of the stress of flying for both business and pleasure.
