About the Development

Combining the rural charm of an historic Essex town, with great connections to London and across the South East, it’s no wonder that the area around Great Dunmow was voted the 4th best place in Britain to live in the Halifax Rural Areas Quality of Life Survey.

Now, thanks to Redrow, you can share in this enviable lifestyle, with a choice of 3, 4 and 5 bedroom Heritage Collection homes at the Brambles, to the south of the town.

Amenities

Dunmow Convenience Store is not far from the development, with Tesco Dunmow Superstore just a short drive away for your full weekly shop.

For doctors, register with Angel Lane Surgery, just half a mile away (Sat Nav CM6 1AQ, call 0845 474 8853) or for dentists, try Great Dunmow Dental Care on the High Street (Sat Nav CM6 1AH, call 0845 474 8853).

You’ll be spoiled for choice in and around Great Dunmow, with a great range of highly rated restaurants and gastro pubs all within easy reach of The Brambles. Try Samui Thai, Square One, the Pride of Sylhet and Flitch House all on Dunmow High Street, or venture a little further to the Spotted Dog at Bishops Green or The Green Man at Lindsell. You’ll also find a great selection of welcoming village inns across the county, all offering friendly service and fabulous food.

Education

For a small town, Dunmow is surprisingly well served by an excellent choice of highly rated schools in both the state and independent sectors. Both Dunmow St Mary’s Primary and Great Dunmow Primary are rated ‘good’ by Osted, with nearby Felsted Primary rated ‘outstanding’.

The town even has its own high school, The Helena Romanes School and Sixth Form Centre, which is rated ‘good’, with nearby Flitch Green Academy rated ‘good with outstanding features’. The village of Felsted is also home to the historic Felsted School, which can trace its history back over 450 years and today provides independent education for children from 4-18 years.

Leisure

Great Dunmow Leisure Centre has an excellent range of facilities, including a pool, squash courts, sports hall and Astroturf pitches. Golfers can find a choice of challenging courses all just a short drive away, including the nine holes of Elsenham Golf and Leisure Centre, Notleys Golf Course, Bishop Stortford Golf Course and Channels Golf Club offering a choice of two courses at one of Essex’s finest country hotels.

For evening entertainment, head for the multi-screen cinema at Braintree’s Freeport Leisure, where you’ll also find Namco Funscape for the kids and a choice of popular family restaurants. Or for a great day out, take a walk on the wild side at Colchester Zoo.

Shopping

Dunmow has held a market in the town since Henry III granted its charter in the 13th century, and markets are still held in the town every Tuesday. You’ll also find a great selection of mainly independent, family run shops along the High Street.

Nearby Braintree is home to Freeport Braintree, an outlet village offering designer labels at incredible discounts. You’ll also find modern shopping malls in Chelmsford at High Chelmer and Meadows shopping centres, as well as George Yard in Braintree and Jackson Square in Bishop’s Stortford.

Transport

Around 40miles north east of London, Great Dunmow enjoys excellent connections, with the A120 passing right by the town and the M11 just 8 miles away at Stanstead. The county town of Chelmsford is just over 12miles away, with Colchester 25miles, Bishop’s Stortford 12miles and Braintree 9miles. Stanstead Airport is just 7miles to the west.

There is a choice of local stations with direct London connections, including the station at Stanstead Airport, which has trains to London in just 50 minutes plus plenty of parking (though this can be expensive). Alternatively, Chelmsford Station, a little further away, has 122 more affordable parking spots and direct services to London in as little as 37 minutes.
