Dining

Basingstoke has a great selection of restaurants, especially in the trendy Top of the Town district, including Wagamamas, Pizza Express, Ask Italian and Nandos. Top rated eateries include the Sun Inn, The Fur and Feathers, and the Glass House Restaurant. There are also plenty of family favourites at Basingstoke Leisure Park and at Festival Place Shopping Centre. Closer to home, The White hart comes highly recommended.

Education

At Redrow, we understand the importance of great schools to our family homebuyers, and so we choose our locations carefully. At Becket’s rise you’ll find yourself within easy reach of an excellent choice, including the outstanding rated Castle Hill Infants and St Ann’s Catholic Primary, and the ‘good’ rated Kempshot Infants and Chiltern Primary.

Older pupils have just as good a choice, with Fort Hill Community School, as well as the ‘good’ Bishop Challoner Catholic Secondary School and ‘good’ Aldworth School all within easy reach. Further education is offered at Basingstoke College of Technology and Queen Mary’s College.

Leisure

The focus of fun in town is Basingstoke Leisure Park, just a short distance from Becket’s Rise. Here you’ll find something for everyone, including the Aquadrome, complete with chutes and wave pool, an ice rink, a bowling alley, and Odeon multi-screen cinema and even an Airkix indoor skydiving centre. In the town centre you’ll find a further cinema, along with the Haymarket Theatre, Central Studio and The Anvil Arts Centre.

For sports, check out Basingstoke Sports Centre and Queen Mary’s Sports Centre, along with the many sport-specific clubs and societies in the town. Golfers can enjoy a challenging round at Weybrook Park, Basingstoke or Dummer Golf Clubs.

For a treat for younger children, visit Manydown Family Fun just a short walk from the development, where they can feed baby farm animals, ride on tractors and climb the bale mountain, as well as playing crazy golf and many other exciting outdoor activities.

Shopping

Basingstoke has an excellent choice of modern shopping, including the Festival Place Shopping Centre and The Malls home to many big names such as French Connection, Debenhams, Gap and M&S. The town also holds a popular market every Wednesday and Saturday, which can trace its heritage back over 800 years.

The Top of the Town district is well worth a visit, with a wide range of quirky independent shops offering interesting and unusual goods that you wouldn’t normally find on the high street.

If you prefer the simplicity of out of town shopping, try Hatch Warren or Brighton Hill retail parks, where you’ll find the usual mix of DIY, electricals and homewares.
