Maidstone's attractive high street boasts a number of shops and from here you can easily access Fremlin Walk, a modern shopping centre where you'll find a huge choice of well-known high street brands. The Mall Chequers is another spacious indoor shopping centre and, on the other side of the River Medway, you can find St Peter's Wharf, known for its clothes, crafts and homeware shops. There's also a thriving local market which takes place each week on Tuesdays and Saturdays at Lockmeadow.

Living in Maidstone means you'll be able to enjoy relaxing boat trips along the peaceful River Medway, as well as the more energetic pastimes of walking, cycling or a spot of golf in the award-winning Mote Park. There's also Leeds Castle, a historic Norman strong-hold, which features 500-acres of parkland, the rip-roaring treetop adventures of Go Ape, and a brilliant hedge maze - perfect for a family day out. Maidstone Leisure Centre is a must-visit for keep fit fans as it boasts an impressive five swimming pools, a two storey state-of-the-art fitness suite, sports hall and children's soft play area.

Education for all...

Maidstone is also very family friendly with 23 primary and 15 secondary schools, including some particularly sought-after institutions - Maidstone Grammar School, Oakwood Park Grammar School, Maidstone Grammar School for Girls and Invicta Grammar School.
