Skipton offers a delightful range of leisure options, including a heritage steam railway and a charming 100-year old cinema, The Plaza, with Pullman seats, a balcony and an organ, that presents current releases. The Mart Theatre programmes a variety of live entertainment including touring musical shows, theatre and comedy, and a local amateur dramatic society presents a series of plays throughout the year in the intimate Skipton Little Theatre.
For outdoor activities, there is an endless choice of walking and cycling opportunities, from the Leeds and Liverpool Canal walkways to the wildlife habitats at the Embsay Nature Reserve, from where the vast expanse of the Yorkshire Dales National Park stretches away to the north.
