About the Development

Set amongst the same stunning Pennine scenery that inspired TV’s Last of the Summer Wine and Where the Heart Is, Thongsbridge enjoys a delightful rural location. Yet at the same time, you’ll find good local schools close by, excellent facilities in nearby Holmfirth and easy connections by road and rail to Huddersfield, Sheffield, Leeds and Manchester.

Stoney Bank Chase offers a selection of superb quality two, three and four bedroom family homes from Redrow’s award winning Heritage Collection, designed, like their surroundings, to offer the best of both worlds, with traditional craftsmanship and architecture, combined with modern family friendly designs. Register your interest today in these new homes near Huddersfield, and we’ll keep you right up to date with all the news and give you the pick of the plots when they are released.

Dining

Locally, Thongsbridge has a small selection of eateries, with The Great Wall Chinese and Spice Fusion Lounge both very popular.
As you would expect for a major tourist destination, nearby Holmfirth has much more choice, with Trip Advisor listing no less than 64 places to eat, led by Shimla Indian Cuisine, Catch Seafood Restaurant, Pure North Cider Press Café and Mezze. The Black Cat, The Fleece, The Ford Inn and The Fox House Inn are also popular for their high class pub grub.

Education

The local area operates a three-tier school system, and Stoney Bank chase has all three levels within easy reach of home. Children start at Kirkroyds Infants School, rated ‘good’ by Ofsted in their recent inspection. They then move up to Wooldale Juniors close by, which was assessed to have ‘good’ personal development, behaviour and pupil welfare. Both schools are just a short drive away, or you can leave the car and enjoy a morning walk together.
Older pupils are even luckier, with the ‘good’ rated and highly popular Holmfirth High School just a few minutes walk away from the development across the school fields.

Leisure

For a small village, Thongsbridge has much to offer including sports at Holmfirth High School Sports Centre and Holmfirth Pool, as well as successful village cricket and tennis clubs. Nearby Holmfirth has a host of attractions for tourists and locals alike, including the Valley Theatre, which was nominated best small venue in Britain by the NME. The town has regular festivals throughout the year, including Holmfirth Arts Week in July and the Festival of Folk in May.
With the Peak District national park right on your doorstep, the opportunities are endless for getting out and about and making the most of your exceptional surroundings. While others travel for hours to visit the area, you’ll have a trip of just minutes.

Shopping

Holmfirth has a wide range of local shops, including many local independents selling produce and crafts made in the valley by local people. It also has a friendly local market every Thursday and Saturday, along with a farmers’ market every third Sunday of the month. Alongside the crafts shops, Holmfirth also hosts the modern Riverside Shopping Centre.
For a more extensive shopping trip, head for Huddersfield, for the Packhorse, Kingsgate and Piazza shopping centres, or take the train to the shoppers’ paradise that is Leeds City Centre.

Transport

Although the development enjoys an enviable rural setting, this is far from being a remote village. Huddersfield is just 6miles away, Barnsley 13miles and Wakefield 16miles, with the major cities of Sheffield (22miles) Leeds (26miles) and Manchester (26miles) all within easy reach. You’ll also enjoy easy access to both the M62 and M1 for journeys farther afield.
