You can find affordable pub grub at, the Gaping Goose, the Crusader, the Podger, the Newmarket Inn, the Miners Arms and the Bird in Hand, with a Streakhouse at the Miller & Carter, a Hungry Horse at the Lord Gascoigne and a Wetherspoons at the Briggate.

For more formal dining, try the Mediterranean inspired Station House Bistro, the Italian flavours of La Bella Vita, or the Indian and Pakistani dishes of Aagrah Restaurant. Naturally, nearby Leeds has a much wider selection of restaurants to suit every taste and budget, from familiar family chains to fine dining.

Education

Roundwood is perfectly placed for children of all ages, with the local primary school, Ninelands Primary, just a couple of minutes walk away. The school is very popular with both pupils and parents and was rated ‘good’ with ‘outstanding’ features in its last Ofsted inspection. St Benedict’s Catholic Primary offers an alternative close by.

Older pupils are even better served, with Garforth Academy, also within walking distance, rated ‘outstanding’ in all areas by Ofsted.

Leisure

Garforth Squash and Leisure Centre is located right next to the development, offering a range of courts and sports, while Garforth Golf Club, across the M1, offers a challenging round.

Nearby Leeds provides sport for spectators, with everything from test and county cricket, and rugby league, at Headingley, along with Championship football at Elland Road. The city is also home to a choice of cinemas, plus a host of live entertainment including the Northern Ballet, the Grand Theatre, the West Yorkshire Playhouse and the Opera North. Garforth Main Street has an interesting selection of shops throughout the year, with an annual Christmas market in the festive season. For a more extensive shopping trip, hop the train just two stops and you’ll reach the huge Crossgates Shopping Centre on the outskirts of Leeds, giving you loads of choice without the hassle of visiting the city.

Leeds itself is a shopper’s paradise, with something for everyone from the international fashion brands of the Victorian Quarter, to the offbeat wonderland of the Grand Arcade and the magnificently quirky Corn Exchange. The 1million sq ft Trinity Leeds is the ultimate shopping centre, with all your favourite names and much more.

Transport

East Garforth Station is just a few minutes walk from the development, so you can leave your car behind and take the train to work. Direct services link to Leeds in 13minutes and York in just 21minutes.

If you prefer to drive, you’ll find the M1 conveniently close, with J46 for southbound and J47 for northbound both just a couple of miles away. The A1(M) junction 42 is also just a short drive away. Castleford is just 6miles, Leeds 9miles and York 19miles. For both family holidays and business trips, Leeds Bradford Airport is just 17miles away, with motorway most of the way.
