Salford Priors is a rural, agricultural village located just to the north of the River Avon whose history can be traced back as far as 714, when it was know as Saltford, because it was a ford crossing the river Arrow on the Salt Way from Droitwich to Hillborough. By the time of the Domesday Book in 1086 the parish was known as Salford.

The name of Salford Priors comes from the local land being owned by Kenilworth Priory and Evesham Abbey. There are several Grade II listed buildings in the village, located mainly in the conservation area along Evesham Road and Station Road. A major attraction is the network of footpaths which traverse the parish, making the village a popular destination for tourists and photographers.
