Quality of life is about the details of everyday living. From the little things, like knowing the nearest place to pick up a pint of milk, to more important matters like finding the right school or having a health centre nearby, you need to know that the community you’re moving to will support you and your family, as well as being a pleasant place to live. So here’s some useful information about the area around Glendee.

Dating back to the 12th Century, Renfrew features many historic buildings that contribute to the town’s distinctive local character. However, the excellent transport links eliminate any sense of remoteness. Glendee is just over a mile from the M8 and 20 minutes drive from Glasgow city centre, and Glasgow Airport is just two and a half miles away. Buses into Glasgow pass along Renfrew High Street, and there are also express services from Braehead into Buchanan Street bus station. Local services between Paisley and Braehead stop 300 yards away, and the ten-minutes Renfrew Ferry service across the Clyde to Yoker operates every half hour.

There are several parks and open spaces within a few minutes walk, including large playing fields adjacent to the development which are also the location of a convenient recycling centre, and Robertson Park with its skatepark, pond, floral garden, bowling greens and tennis courts. A little over a mile away, the prestigious Renfrew Golf Club occupies a superb position on the bank of the River Cart.

Nearby recreational amenities include the modern Renfrew Leisure Centre, with a gym, fitness suite, sports hall, football pitches, sauna and steam room, and a David Lloyd gym with a heated outdoor pool. The Lagoon Leisure Centre in Paisley offers a 25m swimming pool and separate teaching pool, and attractions at Braehead, around a mile away, include curling, bowling, indoor skiing and snowboarding, minigolf and children’s play facilities. There is also a 12-screen Odeon cinema, and the Braehead Arena hosts major international live music events.

Renfrew’s main shopping area, around Hairst Street, Canal Street and the High Street, has a selection of convenience stores, newsagents, pharmacies, bakers, a post office and fast food takeaways interspersed with hairdressers, banks and pubs. There is a large Aldi supermarket in the High Street, and a Tesco just across the nearby playing fields. The Intu centre at Braehead presents a very wide choice of high street names, including M&S, Ikea and Sainsbury’s as well as fashion and specialist shops.
