The town is well served by its amenities, with a range of doctors’ and dentists’ practices. Closest to the Heathfields development is the Creech Medical Centre, a 20 minute walk away. Taunton also has a family planning clinic and a centre for occupational health. Bridge Street Dental Centre is two-and-half miles away in the centre of Taunton, making it easily reached by everyone. There are two hospitals, Musgrove Park Hospital and Somerset Partnership, as well as a private Nuffield Hospital as well. Among its many churches are facilities for several denominations, including a Quaker Society of Friends, plus facilities for many others.

Dining

Options for dining out in Taunton are numerous. Every cuisine imaginable is represented here in the Somerset county town. Education

As to be expected in a town of such size, the provision for education is extensive. People moving into the area will find a wide range of schools to choose between at both primary and secondary levels. Closest to the Heathfields development is the West Monkton Primary School, which has seven single age-group classes and is a short walk away, then for secondary education the Heathfield Community School is similarly close by. Heathfield Community School also has a thriving sixth form with a specialism in the performing arts, for continuing education post-16 in a number of subject areas.

Leisure

No matter which leisure activities are preferred, there is something here for everyone to do. Sports fans will love the proximity to The County Ground, once home of Taunton Cricket Club and now the location for the England Women’s Cricket Team as well as Somerset Cricket Club.

The town has its own football and rugby clubs as well as being able to boast a semi-professional basketball team who play in the English Basketball League’s male first division. Numerous swimming pool and leisure centre facilities promote fitness with their classes and sessions, while others still can enjoy Taunton Racecourse without exerting themselves quite so much.

Similarly, outside of sports there are plentiful arts and theatrical leisure venues, including a range of museums, galleries, cinemas and theatres.

Shopping

Shoppers will find plenty to appeal, with the main centre having a thriving high street with all of the shops that would be expected. The Riverside Retail Park is nearby off the M5, with a good selection of large out of town stores including Halfords and PC World. Transport

Located in Taunton, the largest town in its county and the heart of Somerset, the Heathfields development is ideally situated with transport links to numerous other places. Road links are particularly strong, with Taunton connected to the M5 motorway, which leads to Bristol to the north and Exeter to the south.

The A38 road runs alongside the motorway, connecting to several other local towns and villages. Taunton has its own coach station served by National Express and a range of local operators, including Berrys Of Taunton, which has a daily service to London.

Local buses between villages and town destinations are also regular and convenient. A park and ride scheme is useful for those who do not wish to drive in the city centre. For railway links, Taunton’s mainline station is on the line between Penzance and London as well as being a point on the Cross Country Route between London, Manchester, Cardiff, Birmingham and Plymouth.
