You’ll find tasty pub grub in a number of fine local establishments, including the Wenvoe Arms and the Walston Castle, while Barry has a selection of top class eateries. Try the highly recommended Blue Anchor, or go for a more exotic experience at Izmir Turkish restaurant. Cardiff boasts some excellent restaurants, with something for everyone to enjoy. Head to the brewery quarter for many restaurants. For a romantic evening, dine at the water’s edge at Mermaid’s Quay, and don’t miss the a la carte afternoon teas at Tempus at Tides in Cardiff Bay.

Education

As you would expect, Wenvoe has a traditional primary school in the heart of the village, just half a mile from the development. This not only delivers excellent primary education, but also builds the sense of community from an early age. What you might not expect in a South Wales village location, is a choice of good high schools, all within easy reach, with Barry Comprehensive for boys just 2½ miles away, and Bryn Hafren Comprehensive for girls even closer. For church based schooling, choose St Richard Gwyn Roman Catholic Comprehensive just 2 miles away.

Leisure

Wenvoe enjoys leisure on a wide range of scales, from the rich community life of the village, including scouts, youth clubs and choirs, to the international attractions of Cardiff, including the Millennium Stadium and Sophia Gardens cricket ground. Head to the seaside at Barry Island, or head out into the countryside, with the stunning Brecon Beacons National Park and the Gower peninsula both within easy driving distance. Cardiff boasts a wide range of leisure attractions, including an iMax cinema, and St David’s Hall, while closer to home you’ll find a selection of friendly pubs, including the Wenvoe Arms, to while away a pleasant evening with friends. Wenvoe has its own cricket and football teams, and the challenging Wenvoe Castle Golf Club is within walking distance of your door. The area also boasts a number of other top quality courses, including Brynhill and Cottrell Park. For a great day out, try Cosmeston Lakes Country Park and Medieval Village, Dyffryn Gardens or St Fagans National History Museum, all within five miles of the development.

Shopping

Culverhouse Cross, just a few minutes drive from the development has a supermarket and a wide range of big name stores, while a little further away, the Capital Retail Park offers a similar mix. Barry has a good selection of shops in and around the High Street, while Cardiff boasts St David’s Shopping Centre, That is well represented by all the high street names, as well as historic arcades packed with fascinating independent shops and boutiques.

Transport

Cadoxton station on the outskirts of Barry has a large free car park and trains every quarter of an hour to Cardiff Central, taking just 18 minutes. Alternatively, Cardiff is just a five mile drive from the development. Trains from Cardiff Central link to London in just two and a quarter hours, or Bristol in as little as 48 minutes. The M4 lies just a short drive north of development, bringing Swansea within easy reach just 40 miles away, and Bristol almost as close at 52 miles. Cardiff Airport is also convenient, just 6 miles away, offering flights across Europe as well as Florida.
