The River Adur offers more water-based activities and its scenic estuary is a haven for wildlife, as are the beautiful South Downs National Park, popular for walking, horse-riding, mountain-biking and paragliding. Nearby Shoreham-by-Sea is a picturesque, historic fishing town and Lancing College Chapel founded in 1868 has one of the largest stained glass windows in England, or discover nearly 1,000 years of history at the magnificent Arundel Castle.

Saxons Plain is just off the A2700, which is about one mile from the A27, the major trunk route linking the seaside towns of Eastbourne and Brighton in the east, to Worthing, Chichester, Portsmouth and the M27 to the west. The A27 also gives access to the A24 which links to the M23 and M25. Worthing railway station runs trains from nearby Goring-on-Sea, Durrington-on-Sea and Worthing to Portsmouth, Brighton, Southampton and London Victoria. For air travel Southampton Airport is 51 miles and Heathrow 65.
