Less than two miles’ drive from the A1(M) and around half an hour’s drive from Leeds, Harrogate or York, Shires Grove enhances its extremely convenient location with a beautiful semi-rural setting. Bus service 770, to Leeds and Harrogate via Wetherby, runs every half hour until around 6pm, and once an hour in the evenings. There are also less frequent services to Tadcaster, Otley, Wakefield and other local towns.

Shires Grove is around half a mile from Boston Spa’s picturesque High Street, a conservation area where the choice of shops includes a pharmacy, a post office, newsagents, convenience stores and traditional butchers and bakers shops alongside hairdressers, an optician, a bank, a travel agency and a filling station. Bramham Park, three and a half miles from the village, is the location of the Leeds Festival, a major national rock music event.

Outdoor leisure opportunities range from woodland walks along the River Wharfe and exploring the local countryside to long distance rambles along the Ebor Way and White Rose Way, both of which pass through the village. Amenities in the larger town of Wetherby, three miles away and accessible via the White Rose Way, include a cinema, a racecourse, a superbly scenic golf course situated alongside the river, and a leisure centre with a 25m swimming pool, a learner pool and a well-equipped gym.
