Steeton has a rural feel and a strong community spirit. The village has a surprising number of amenities, either located within Steeton itself or a short drive away. Airedale General Hospital is located in Steeton, within walking distance of the development. General practitioner services are available on Chapel Road in Steeton and at One Medicare on North Street in Keighley. Local dental practices include CJ Harker and Associates in Silsden. There are also two post offices, several hair dressing salons and Methodist and Church of England churches.

Dining

Steeton's dining options are fairly casual and include takeaways and cafes, but there is a wider selection of restaurants in both Skipton and Keighley that serve just about every cuisine imaginable. There are British, Asian, Thai, Turkish and Italian establishments in Keighley, and British, Mexican, Russian and Jamaican restaurants in Skipton.

Education

Steeton residents have a choice of primary schools, with both Eastburn Infants and Juniors and Steeton Primary within easy reach of the development. Secondary education options include the nearby Greenhead High, and a range of options in Skipton such as Aireville School, Ermysted's Grammar School for Boys and Skipton Girls' High School. Located in Keighley there is further choice, with University Academy Keighley, Oakbank School, Holy Family Catholic School and Parkside Comprehensive School all available for admissions. Further education courses are available at Craven College in Skipton and at the Keighley campus of Leeds City College.

Leisure

There are a number of opportunities to engage with the rest of the community of Steeton. The local cricket and football clubs welcome new members, and the village boasts one of the oldest male voice choirs in Yorkshire. There are also two public parks and a bowling green in the village, and the play area next to the new community hub is currently being refurbished. Golf clubs in the area include Branshaw, Keighley and Silsden. There is a good choice of pubs in both Steeton and nearby Keighley, where you'll also find the Keighley Playhouse. There are cinemas in both Keighley and Skipton. Steeton's delightful setting in the Aire Valley and close to Ilkely Moor and the Yorkshire Dales National Park make it an ideal place of residence for those who enjoy the outdoors, with extensive hiking, climbing, cycling and horse riding opportunities in the vicinity. The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, to the south of Steeton, is also an enjoyable day out.

Shopping

The village of Steeton has a selection of local shops, including a butcher selling fresh meats, a newsagents and a fruit and vegetable shop. The Tesco stores in Skipton and Bingley will provide all of the basics, while the Airedale Shopping Centre and Keighley Market are suitable for more substantial shops. Leeds is a great option for a day of shopping, with a number of shopping centres, arcades, markets and department stores located close to the train station. Many upmarket retailers such as Harvey Nichols, have opened stores in Leeds in recent years, leading to it being nicknamed the 'Knightsbridge of the North'.

Transport

Steeton is situated on the main Aire Valley Road (A629) in the Aire Valley, 10 kilometres south of Skipton, and six kilometres north of Keighley. The cities of Bradford and Leeds are both less than 30 minutes away. The M62 to Manchester can be accessed at Bradford, and the M65 to Preston, Blackburn and the north can be accessed at Colne, less than 20 kilometres from the development. The area is also well connected by train with the Steeton and Silsden railway station, located on the Airedale Line, providing regular Northern Rail connections to Leeds, Bradford Forster Square and Skipton. The journey to Leeds takes just over half an hour by train. There are less frequent services from the station to Carlisle, as well as a Sunday service to Morecambe. The station is very usefully situated within walking distance of the development. Leeds Bradford is the closest international airport and is easily accessed, less than 30 kilometres from Steeton.
