About the Development
Set in the delightful Yorkshire village of Sherburn in Elmet, Saxon Gardens offers the best of both worlds, with the peace and quiet of village life combined with excellent commuter links to nearby towns and cities, including Leeds and York. What’s more, Sherburn is no ordinary village, with a superb sense of community and a highly popular aero club with its own airfield.

Dining
Dining in this part of the world is very much focused on fine home cooking in friendly country pubs, and there are many hidden surprises in and around Sherburn, including the Red Bear, Oddfellows Arms and Forresters Arms in the village itself, the Queen o’ t’ Owd Thatch in South Milford, the White Horse in Church Fenton and the Ash Tree in Barkston Ash.
The village is also home to a handful of traditional restaurants, including Bon Restaurant and Wine Bar and Saffron for Asia cuisine.Education
At Redrow, we understand the importance of building our family homes near high quality schools, and in Sherburn you’ll be spoiled for choice, despite the relatively small size of the village.Leisure
Few villages can boast their own aerodrome, let alone some of the finest facilities in Britain. Sherburn Aero Club offers a wide variety of pleasure flights and lessons, along with a popular social programme that is the highlight of the village calendar. For more grounded sports, head for the leisure centres at Garforth and Kippax, both just a short drive away, or join one of the many village teams, including rugby league, football and cricket. You can hang up your ‘gone fishing’ sign and head for Bacon Factory Pond, or tee off at either Scarthingwell or Cocksford golf course.Shopping
As with most villages, the traditional market is the focus of shopping twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays. You’ll also discover a surprisingly good selection of shops in the village centre, with traditional independent butchers and greengrocers alongside big names like Boots.Transport
Enjoying the village lifestyle often means living off the beaten track, but not in Sherburn. The village has a choice of two stations, Sherburn in Elmet, which lies to the east of the village and has a small car park, and South Milford Station, which lies a short drive to the south, and has parking for 30 cars. Sherburn in Elmet station has services to York in 17minutes and Sheffield in around an hour, while South Milford has services to Leeds just over 20 minutes away.
