Rhiwlas is a development of new homes in Radyr, which forms part of Plasdŵr, an emerging, sustainable countryside community extending over 900 acres in north-west Cardiff. Plasdŵr offers a product mix of 2, 3 and 4-bedroom properties that will appeal to first-time buyers, families and professionals travelling into Cardiff, situated around four miles away.

Radyr is situated about four miles northwest of Cardiff. From junction 32 of the M4, Rhiwlas at Plasdŵr is less than a 10-minute drive away. This development is under the administration of Radyr and Morganstown Community Council.

When complete, the Plasdŵr community will offer excellent amenities including several new schools, shops and offices, restaurants and bars, sports and leisure facilities and children’s play areas, in addition to substantial parks and managed woodland for the enjoyment of residents. Outside of the community, the development enjoys a semi-rural location a short distance from Radyr village, which offers a selection of shops and casual restaurants. Local sports facilities include Radyr Lawn Tennis Club, Radyr Golf Club and Cardiff Cricket Club, and for rugby fans, three clubs have their home grounds nearby: Cardiff Harlequins, Whitchurch, and Llandaff North. About 15 minutes’ walk away is Forest Farm Country Park, which offers a choice of woodland trails for walking and running.

Rhiwlas at Plasdŵr lies approximately four miles, or 15 minutes by car, from the vibrant commercial hub of Cardiff. Renowned for its grand architecture and distinctive culture, the city offers a wealth of museums and galleries, and shopping and restaurants to suit all tastes. The Wales Millennium Centre, an iconic landmark of the city located in Cardiff Bay, holds regular live music and theatre performances. Also on the waterfront, Mermaid Quay is home to a variety of eateries, including Moksh, which was awarded the title of ‘Best Indian’ at the Food Awards Wales 2018. Further choice of dining can be found in the city centre, particularly within the Old Brewery Quarter, and the Castle Quarter Arcades. High street shopping in Cardiff is focused around the St David’s complex, and Queen Street, while its several Victorian arcades provide an eclectic independent retail experience.

As the Plasdŵr community develops, it will incorporate four new primary schools and a secondary school to serve residents of the local area. Presently, a number of established, and well-regarded English and Welsh medium schools can be found within walking or cycling distance of Rhiwlas. Further education is provided at Cardiff and Vale College, which has three campuses in the capital. Those interested in pursuing higher education will find Cardiff Metropolitan University around a 10-minute drive from Radyr, and the University of Cardiff about 15 minutes away by car.

Those commuting from Radyr will find the M4, which gives access to Bristol, Newport and Swansea, less than a 10-minute drive from Rhiwlas. Radyr railway station is about half a mile from the development, and provides direct services to Cardiff Central with a journey time of approximately 15 minutes. For air travel, Cardiff Airport is around 30 minutes away by car.
