About the Development
The Hoo Peninsula is one of Kent’s best kept secrets, with miles of wide open spaces between the Thames and Medway estuaries. Here villages like High Halstow enjoy a traditional life of village cricket and friendly local pubs. Yet our new development, Heronden Grange in High Halstow, is just 35miles from London, and even closer to Rochester, Strood, Chatham and the M25, as well as the delights of the enormous Bluewater Shopping Centre.Amenities
Close to Heronden Grange you can find a local premier convenience store with post office for your day to day needs. Whilst further afield you can find a range of supermarkets in the nearby towns of Chatham, Rochester, Gillingham and Strood which include Tesco, Asda and Morrisons.Dining
The Red Dog in High Halstow is the centre of the village’s social life, with the Horseshoe and Castle and the Fenn Bell Inn also popular on the peninsula. Hoo St Werburgh is home to The Five Bells, as well as the Pink Paprika Indian restaurant.Education
We wouldn’t be building in High Halstow if we couldn’t offer you the quality of education you naturally want for your children, but this delightful village will not disappoint. High Halstow Primary School has a rich history and is a central part of the local community. It lies just a short walk from the development and was rated ‘good’ by Ofsted. The village also has a pre-school with strong links to the primary.
For older pupils, a brief bus ride or short school run takes them to the neighbouring village of Hoo St Werburgh, where you’ll find the popular Hundred of Hoo Academy, which was also rated ‘good’.
For independent education, Gads Hill School in Rochester offers non-boarding education for both boys and girls, from age 3 to 16.
Leisure
High Halstow has a strong community spirit, with something for everyone, from a competitive cricket club to not one, but two village halls, offering a range of shows and activities for young and old. Hoo Sports Centre, Strand Leisure Centre and Strood Leisure Centre offer a wide selection of sports, while walkers and twitchers will love the local nature reserve, where you’ll find the hundreds of nesting herons that gave our development its name.
Rochester offers a Cineworld multi-screen cinema along with the Medway Little Theatre, and there are endless leisure opportunities at the Bluewater Centre, including Pirate Cove Adventure Park, Sega Active Zone and Gravity Trampoline Park.
For a family day at the seaside, there are many coastal resorts, such as Sheerness, Canvey Island and Herne Bay, all within easy driving distance.
Shopping
When it comes to shopping, you couldn’t ask for more than the Bluewater Shopping Centre. People travel from far and wide to shop here, but as a resident of High Halstow it is just a short drive, taking less than half an hour.Transport
The village lies just off the A228, which links swiftly to Rochester, Strood and Chatham, in around 6miles. At Rochester you can link with the M2 to the coast or the A2 Watling Street to the M25 and the city beyond. Gravesend is around 11miles, Maidstone is around 18miles and London is around 35miles.
