Transport
Doonholm Meadows is just off the A77, which becomes the M77 just north of Kilmarnock, bringing the whole of central Glasgow within an hour’s drive. There are frequent train services to Glasgow Central Station, and Prestwick Airport is only 20 minutes drive away.

Arts & Entertainment
Ayr is a lively seaside town with a wide choice of amenities including the Citadel Leisure Centre, situated between the seafront and the River Ayr, which incorporates a 25m swimming pool, teaching and flexi pools, sports halls and a gym. The town offers an excellent selection of restaurants, bars and cafés, and the Gaiety Theatre presents an eclectic mix of opera and contemporary music to comedy and drama in its main auditorium and studio theatre. It also incorporates an exhibition space and a café. Ayr’s other attractions include a four-screen Odeon cinema, and comedy and music nights at the Town Hall.

Leisure & Recreation
Doonholm Road is close to some excellent parks and green areas, including the beautiful Rozelle Park with its astonishing variety of plants and wildlife, and there are superb riverside walks along the River Doon. The beach and esplanade, have a seafront playpark, and sports facilities in the immediate vicinity include Ayr Rugby Club, Belleisle and Seafield golf courses and Cambusdoon Sports Club which hosts Ayr’s cricket, hockey and bowling clubs. Ayr is also the home of Scotland’s premiere racecourse, with many major races and other events throughout the year.

Shopping
There is a pharmacy and a popular post office and village store in Alloway. A second local shopping area at Hollow Park includes a general store and a florist. Ayr town centre presents an exciting diversity of traditional local retailers and speciality shops alongside malls at the Kyle Centre and Ayr Central.

Recycling Facilities
There is a recycling centre in the car park of the Iceland store in Hollow Park, around fifteen minutes walk away, with facilities for household metals and other packaging, cardboard and cartons, paper, glass bottles and jars, shoes and clothing. Maybole Recycling Centre, around six miles away, accepts larger items such as kitchen appliances, TVs and car engines.

Education & Health
Doonholm Meadows is in the catchment area for Alloway Primary School which is only 600 yards away. Alloway Primary School is a bright and stimulating school with strong community links and a good educational track record. Pupils normally move on to Belmont Academy in Ayr, less than two miles away. The local medical practice, Cornhill and Alloway, has a surgery opposite Burns Cottage.
