Persimmon Homes are pleased to announce our four-bedroom homes located in Shildon, a town with a unique railway history. With a range of expertly designed modern homes available to choose from, and whether you're simply making a side-step or looking for more space for your growing family, Middridge Vale is bound to have what you're looking for.

Halfway between Darlington and Durham, Shildon is well placed for easy access to the A1(M). This straightforward link between County Durham and North Yorkshire is very convenient if you need to travel for work. Darlington is 10 miles away and Middlesbrough is 24 miles away. It's a great base to set off for the great outdoors too. The North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is about 20 miles to the west, offering some dramatic scenery, fabulous walking country and some of the Pennine's best cycling routes.

You'll have a range of day-to-day essential shops nearby, with more to choose from in neighbouring Newton Aycliffe and Bishop Auckland. Enjoy a day of shopping in historic Durham which has modern shopping malls as well as independent shops in the cobbled streets leading up to the cathedral and castle. There are two great markets there too - a traditional indoor one and an outdoor market which includes some tempting food stalls.

Shildon is just a short drive from the huge open space of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
It's an easy walk to High Force waterfalls from the car park and if you want to get right off the beaten track you can head further into the moors and pick up the Pennine Way. Head for the coast for a different sort of day at the seaside, at the Teesmouth National Nature Reserve and the South Gare and Coatham Dunes.

The A1(M) is the main road route taking you up to Newcastle. It's a motorway that the North East relies on and the nearest junctions are J59 for southbound travel and J60 for northbound travel. Shilden is also just off the A68 which connects with Darlington and all the way up to the Scottish border. For travel by train, Shildon is on the Tees Valley Line. It's an unmanned station stop but a very useful asset to the town with services to Saltburn, Darlington and Bishop Auckland. Arriva North East provides the local bus services for the town.
