Named after the old railway station on the Strawberry Line, Priory Fields is an exciting new development from Bovis Homes situated on the outskirts of the medieval city of Wells. Best known for its striking cathedral, Wells is one of the smallest cities in the UK and named after the springs which can be found in the gardens of the Bishop's Palace. Situated in the heart of Somerset surrounded by pretty villages and glorious scenery, Wells is the ideal location to experience city life in a semi-rural location.
Home to several individual retailers and boutiques, Wells is the perfect location for a spot of retail therapy. With a variety of local shops offering clothing, kitchenware, toys and much more as well as a selection of high street stores such as Boots and Waterstones, there is something for everyone. There are a large number of cafés, restaurants and bars for those wanting to eat out and groceries can be purchased from the local Waitrose, Tesco or Morrisons. There is also a local market held twice weekly offering a great range of local produce. For a wider variety of shops, Bristol is one hour away with an extensive high street and the popular Cabot Circus and Cribbs Causeway shopping centres.
Surrounded by nature, Wells is nestled in the Southern side of the Mendip Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This rugged landscape is made up of impressive valleys and deep gorges with rich woodlands and an abundance of wildlife providing countless days of exploring the great outdoors. Five minutes from Priory Fields is Wookey Hole with its famous caves dating back millions of years, as well as
many other family attractions. For keen cyclists, The Strawberry Line cycle path runs along the South boundary of the development, offering an 8-mile traffic free route through a variety of landscapes and the spectacular Cheddar Gorge. Wells Cathedral is located in the centre of the city offering free tours all year round and the nearby Bishops Palace with its breath-taking moat and well pools is open daily to visitors. The city benefits from a leisure centre with indoor swimming pool, an independent cinema and many local community groups catering for all interests and ages.
Wells is excellently placed for getting around the beautiful county of Somerset and beyond. It is located on the A39 which takes you 15 minutes South to the popular town of Glastonbury and continues to join up with the M5 Motorway. Head 45 minutes North East from Wells on the A39 to reach the historic city of Bath with its many attractions and stunning architecture. Bristol airport can be reached in 40 minutes by car, with flights departing to a wide variety of European destinations and further afield including America.
The city has a number of good bus connections with services running to Bristol, Bath, Weston-Super-Mare, Shepton Mallet and Glastonbury. A National Express coach connects Wells with London Victoria, also stopping at London Heathrow airport.
