Education

Leisure

There’s plenty to keep sports fans amused in Burton, whether you are taking part of just cheering from the stands. Meadowside Leisure Centre has excellent facilities.The town’s local football team, Burton Albion, are enjoying an excellent run of form, with promotions in consecutive seasons taking them to the Football League Championship division in 2016/17.

For evening entertainment, head for the multi-screen Cineworld for all the latest releases, or take in some culture at the Brewhouse arts centre. Famous for its breweries, Burton also has some excellent pubs serving real ale fresh from the town.

For a day out with a difference, the thrill rides of Alton Towers theme park are just 26miles away, while the National Space Centre in Leicester is just 29 miles. The Peak District National Park is just 25miles to the north.

Shopping

Burton upon Trent has held a weekly market since 1200, and you’ll still find both indoor and outdoor stalls to browse and buy from every Thursday in the town centre. Burton is home to the modern Cooper’s Square and Octagon shopping centres, along with the smaller Burton Place, and also has a good selection of friendly independents as well as all your favourite high street names.

For an alternative shopping experience, try Intu Derby, Three Spires Shopping Centre, Lichfield, or the extensive city centres of Nottingham or Leicester.

Transport

Knights Keep lies just of the main A38 Derby to Lichfield road, just 2miles from the centre of town. Derby is 10miles, Lichfield 15miles and Nottingham and Leicester are both around 27miles. The A50 expressway is just 4miles to the north, giving access to the M6 and M1 at either end.

Direct trains from Burton Station reach Derby in just 12mins, Birmingham in half an hour and Nottingham in 40mins. Trains to London, via Tamworth, take just an hour and a half.

For a family holiday or a romantic European city break, both East Midlands and Birmingham airports are within easy reach, at 17miles and 35miles respectively.
