Take a look at Elm Grove, All Saints Gardens, The Russetts and Linmere. See what house types are available, who they could suit and how easily residents can reach nearby cities and transport networks.

Elm Grove, Trowbridge | Redrow

Bradley Road, Trowbridge, Wiltshire, BA14 0XB

Elm Grove combines the convenience of a market town with plenty of open space around the development. Redrow is building a collection of three and four-bedroom houses, with homes currently ranging from around £360,000 to £545,000.

The development has been designed with more than simply housing in mind. Plans include substantial areas of open space, a community orchard and allotments. While Trowbridge itself provides shops, cafés, restaurants and pubs a short drive away. Bradford-on-Avon is also around 15 minutes away.

The range of three-bedroom properties makes Elm Grove worth considering for first-time buyers who want more space than a typical apartment. The four-bedroom houses provide an option for growing families or existing homeowners looking to move up the property ladder. There is also help for homeowners who already have a property to sell. Part Exchange is available on selected homes, while Redrow is also offering a Deposit Boost on eligible properties. This could make the development particularly relevant to buyers who want to avoid the uncertainty of selling their current home before moving.

Transport is another feature of the location. Trowbridge railway station is less than 10 minutes away and provides direct services towards Bath and Bristol. The A350 and A361 are also easily accessible for road journeys. In approximate mileage terms, Elm Grove is around 12 miles from Bath and approximately 25 miles from Bristol, giving residents access to two South West cities without being based in an urban centre.

All Saints Gardens, Stanton | Bloor Homes

Address: Bury Road, Stanton, Suffolk, IP31 2BZ

A quieter proposition can be found at All Saints Gardens in Stanton, Suffolk, where Bloor Homes is creating a collection of two and three-bedroom houses. Prices currently range from around £295,000 to £435,000.

The development sits among rolling fields and areas of ancient woodland, giving it a distinctly rural feel. Stanton itself provides the everyday essentials, while Bury St Edmunds is approximately a 20-minute drive away. The nearest cities are approximately 30 miles from Norwich and around 35 miles from Cambridge, although the more immediate urban centre for residents will be Bury St Edmunds, which is a town rather than a city.

The two-bedroom homes could make an interesting option for first-time buyers seeking a house rather than an apartment, while the three-bedroom properties provide additional flexibility for couples, families or homeowners needing a home office or extra bedroom.

Bloor Homes also offers its Assisted Move scheme at the development. This is aimed at buyers who already own a property and need help making the transition into a new-build home. The developer also highlights potential savings associated with choosing a new home, including avoiding some of the renovation work that can accompany an older property.

Stanton has good road connections via the A143, with Bury St Edmunds and Diss both within straightforward driving distance. There is also a free local bus service provided by Suffolk County Council, while rail commuters can travel from Bury St Edmunds, with regular trains connecting towards Cambridge. For longer journeys into London, routes via Ipswich provide access to London Liverpool Street.

The Russetts, Hawkhurst | Dandara

Address: Hawkhurst, Kent, TN18 4LS

Dandara's development offers three and four-bedroom houses, with properties listed from £575,000 to £815,000. The homes include a mixture of contemporary barn-style properties and more traditionally designed houses, giving the development a distinctive character.

Its setting is a major part of the attraction. Hawkhurst sits within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with Royal Tunbridge Wells, Rye and the East Sussex coast all within reach. The location also provides access to the village’s shops and local amenities while retaining a rural atmosphere.

The Russetts is perhaps more naturally suited to existing homeowners, families looking for additional space and buyers moving up the ladder than to those purchasing their first property. However, the three-bedroom houses give purchasers a smaller entry point into the development. For homeowners who need to sell before buying, Dandara’s Part Exchange scheme is available, potentially allowing an existing property to be used as part of the move into a new Dandara home. The development also has move-in-ready properties, subject to availability.

Although Hawkhurst is a village, the development has useful connections for commuters. Nearby railway stations including Etchingham and Staplehurst provide routes towards London, while the road network connects residents with Royal Tunbridge Wells and other Kent and East Sussex destinations. By road, The Russetts is roughly 30 miles from Canterbury and around 40 miles from Brighton.

Linmere, Houghton Regis | Tilia Homes

Address: Waterslade Way, Houghton Regis, Bedfordshire, LU5 5QZ

At Linmere, Tilia Homes is part of a much larger, landscape-led community in Houghton Regis. The development currently lists three and four-bedroom houses, with prices starting from £425,000.

What distinguishes Linmere is the emphasis on the wider neighbourhood rather than simply the individual houses. Green space, walking routes, cycle connections, schools, play areas and community facilities all form part of the wider development.

The homes themselves have a strong sustainability focus. Tilia Homes says its 200 properties at Linmere include PV solar panels, an air source heat pump and an electric vehicle charging point as standard. Modern kitchens, bathrooms and flexible living areas are designed around contemporary family life. The three-bedroom properties could suit families and buyers moving from a smaller property, while four-bedroom homes offer additional room for larger households, home working or changing family needs.

Transport is one of Linmere’s strongest practical features. Local bus services connect the community with Houghton Regis, Luton and Dunstable, while rail services are available from nearby Leagrave and Luton stations. The wider area also has good access to the M1 and A5. Linmere is approximately 20 miles from Milton Keynes and around 15 miles from St Albans, depending on the route and starting point. Luton is much closer, making it an important nearby transport and employment centre.
