About the Development

Just four miles from the famous Wessex Downs White Horse, and surrounded by delightful Wiltshire countryside, Calne is a perfectly placed small town within easy reach of both Bristol and London.

Cherhill View lies to the south east of the town, enjoying all the excellent facilities, including both primary and senior schools close at hand, while retaining an open, rural aspect, giving you the best of both worlds.

Just like our Heritage Collection homes, which combine the best of traditional craftsmanship and architecture with modern, family friendly interiors.

Amenities

Quemerford Post Office is the closest local shop, although the supermarkets of Calne are also conveniently close.

For GPs, register with Patford House Surgery (sat nav SN11 0EF call us) or for dentists try Kerry Crescent Dental Surgery (sat nav SN11 0JH call us).

Dining

Occupying such a key position on the London to Bristol route, Calne has endless coaching inns where weary travellers one rested. Today, these offer excellent food and drink in authentic, olde worlde surroundings. Try the Dumb Post Inn, the Ivy Inn, the London Road Inn or one of the many White Horse Inns named after the nearby landmark.

The town centre also has a good choice of restaurants, including the Spice of Bengal, the Joy Balti and Fay's Bistro.

Education

At Redrow we understand that the best locations have to work for all the family, especially the children and they will love the convenience of Cherhill View, because both Holy Trinity CofE Primary and The John Bentley School for older pupils are both just a few minutes from the development, so they'll spend less time travelling every day.

For independent education, Calne boasts St Mary's school for girls, and there are other independent options in nearby Chippenham and Swindon.

Leisure

There's lots to do in Calne, whatever your interests, from the Atwell Wilson Motor Museum right on your doorstep, to the wide open spaces of the Wessex Downs to explore. Calne Leisure Centre has an excellent choice of facilities, from swimming to squash courts, while North Wilts and Monkton Park golf courses are both within easy driving distance. Calne also has its own football and rugby clubs, as well as Calne Divers.

The town holds regular festivals and events, including the Summer and Winter Fairs, the famous duck race, Calne Music and Arts Festival and the legendary Calne Bike Meet - the largest free motorcycle show in Europe.

Shopping

Calne town centre has a good selection of shops, including Sainsbury's and Co-op supermarkets. There is also a market in the town every Friday and Saturday. Nearby Chippenham has an even wider choice, including the Borough Parade and Emery Gate shopping centres and Hathaway retail Park for out of town shopping.

For a big name bargain, head for Swindon Designer Outlet, or for that special shopping trip, hop a train to Bristol for a choice of modern malls and pedestrianised shopping with flagship stores from all the big High Street brands.

Transport

The development lies just off the main arterial route of the A4 and just 12 miles from J16 of the M4 heading west and the same distance from J17 heading east. Chippenham is just 6 miles, Devises 8 miles, Swindon 16 miles and Bristol 30 miles.

Trains from Chippenham connect direct to London Paddington in just 1hr 15 mins and Bristol in just half an hour. Bristol Airport is the closest international airport, although Heathrow is also easy to reach via the M4.
