More information about Chilmark Glade...

A warm welcome awaits at Chilmark Glade

Chilmark Glade is located in the charming market town of Shaftesbury which sits on a hilltop overlooking the beautiful Blackmore Vale. This is the second phase of the development which is conveniently situated to the east of the town's historic town centre. Chilmark Glade offers a variety of high quality accommodation including two, three and four bedroom homes.

Surrounded by the beautiful Dorset countryside and close to the Wiltshire border, Chilmark Glade is located just off the A30 Salisbury Road, to the east of Shaftesbury town centre providing excellent links to all the amenities the thriving town has to offer. Salisbury with its vast array of shops and employment opportunities is only 20 miles to the west.

Steeped in history and tradition, Shaftesbury offers its residents an abundance of local interest. The town's recorded history dates from Anglo-Saxon times and it was once important for its abbey, founded in 888. A large part of Shaftesbury's history is preserved in its charming old streets and buildings – the best example of this is Gold Hill, a steep cobbled street, well-known to many from the Hovis television adverts.

Everything you need is on your doorstep

Chilmark Glade has an excellent range of facilities nearby including a variety of shops, leisure facilities, traditional pubs, cafes and restaurants. There's a good choice of well-respected primary schools and a secondary school within Shaftesbury. Communication links are also good with the A303 and A30 providing access to the South West and London. A short drive away there's a mainline railway station in Gillingham which provides links to London Waterloo and the South West.

The town has many shops including some historian's treasure troves, these include ironmongers, haberdashers, traditional food mongers and many gift shops.

The town also has access to local supermarkets in Gillingham and a Tesco in the town itself.

Shaftesbury has many leisure activities for all age ranges from Shaftesbury Abbey Museum and Garden to sport clubs, snooker halls, gyms, Leisure Pool and Shaftesbury Lawn Tennis Club

Shaftesbury has good transport links with a regular train service from Gillingham (4 miles North West) to London and to Exeter and Paignton and Plymouth. The main road through Shaftesbury, the A350 allows easy access to towns further away.

Shaftesbury is also on the bus routes between local towns; it is well served by buses for those wishing to use the bus services.
