If you do head into the city, you’ll be spoiled for choice, with literally hundreds of places to eat. Trip Advisor recommends the Brazillian and Portuguese flavors of Cantinho do Aziz, the European and vegetarian meals of Oxford Place and the Asian influences of Bengal Brasserie amongst its top rated eateries. For fine dining, try Home Restaurant, The Man Behind the Curtain, Crafthouse or Gaucho Leeds.

Education

Having great schools nearby is as much a priority for us as it is for you, and at The Hawthorns, you couldn’t be better placed. You’ll find a wide selection of local primary schools all within easy reach, including White Laith Primary and Fieldhead Carr Primary, both rated ‘good’ by Ofsted. There’s also a choice of faith-based schools, including Whinmoor St Paul’s CofE Primary and Our Lady’s Catholic Primary. For older children, Bishop Young Academy and Leeds East Academy are both just a short bus ride away.

Alternatively, you can access all their education at one site, with the consistently ‘outstanding’ rated Roundhay School, which is one of the UK’s first all-through state schools, offering provision from ages 4 to 18 in a single school.

Leisure

Nearby Roundhay Park is the centre of leisure life in North Leeds, with two golf courses, the exotic plants and animals of Tropical World, and endless open spaces to enjoy. The park is also home to regular events, including the annual music festival that takes place over the August bank holiday weekend.

For sports and games, Fearnville Leisure Centre has a swimming pool plus a range of courts for hire, while spectators can enjoy everything from test and country cricket at Headingly to Championship football at Elland Road.

Shopping

Cross Gates Shopping Centre is just a short drive around the ring road, and has a huge choice of big name brands on offer mostly aimed at the budget end of the market. Head into town and you’ll find an even bigger choice, with Leeds City Centre famous for its shopping selection.

Browse amongst the finest international designer fashion brands in the Victorian Quarter, find something altogether different in the offbeat wonderland of the Grand Arcade or the magnificently quirky Corn Exchange, or find all your favourite High Street names in the mighty million sq ft retail cathedral that is Trinity Leeds.
