Close to the centre of the town is Nuneaton’s railway station, an important hub served by the West Coast mainline, the Birmingham-Peterborough line and another line to Coventry. Another station, Bermuda Park, is to the south of Nuneaton and this is part of the Nuneaton, Coventry, Kenilworth, Leamington rail upgrade scheme.
Passing through the town is the Coventry canal and the River Anker. There is a local and national bus service too.
Things to do
Nuneaton was formed around a Benedictine nuns Abbey and the ruins can still be seen and have been rebuilt using original stone and is still used for worship.
Near the town centre is Riversley Park and this is home to Nuneaton’s museum and art gallery with a gallery dedicated to locally born author George Elliot. Nuneaton has the Abbey Theatre and this holds many touring shows, musicals, pantomimes etc.
Nuneaton has a bowling club and three main leisure centres. The Pingles is the main one with outside and inside swimming areas and a 250-seater stadium.
The town has two arcades for the shopper, the Ropewalk and Abbeygate shopping centres, the town being redesigned to appeal to the retail market.
The Heart Park feels like a day at the seaside, with sand to play in, clear lakes to swim and woods to walk around.
For the peckish there are many eateries around Nuneaton, from cafes and chip shops to restaurants catering for all tastes, then for drinks Nuneaton offers many pubs, hotels, taverns and inns to while a way the evening.
